Summary of the Investor Charter applicable to Investment Advisers (per SEBI Circular SEBI/HO/MIRSD/MIRSD-PoD/P/CIR/2025/80 dated 2 June 2025).

Every investor should be able to invest in right investment products based on their needs, manage and monitor them to meet their goals, access reports and enjoy financial wellness.

B. Business transacted by the Investment Adviser
  • To enter into an agreement with the client providing all details including fee details, aspects of conflict of interest disclosure and maintaining confidentiality of information.
  • To do a proper and unbiased risk-profiling and suitability assessment of the client.
  • To conduct audit annually.
  • To disclose the status of complaints on its website.
  • To disclose the name, type of registration, registration number, validity, complete address with telephone numbers and associated SEBI office details on its website.
  • To employ only qualified and certified employees.
  • To deal with clients only from official numbers and maintain records of interactions with clients including prospective clients (prior to onboarding), where any conversation related to advice has taken place.
  • To ensure that all advertisements adhere to the Advertisement Code for Investment Advisers.
  • Not to discriminate in terms of services provided among clients opting for same/similar products/services offered by the investment adviser.

  • To ensure confidentiality of information shared by clients unless required by law or with specific client consent.
  • To disclose timelines for various services and ensure adherence to those timelines.

F. Expectations from investors (responsibilities)

Do’s

  • Always deal with SEBI registered Investment Advisers and ensure a valid registration certificate.
  • Check the SEBI registration number against the list of registered IAs on the SEBI website.
  • Pay only advisory fees through banking channels; maintain duly signed receipts. You may use CeFCoM of IAASB if the IA has opted for it.
  • Always ask for risk profiling before accepting investment advice.
  • Ask relevant questions and clear doubts before acting on advice.
  • Assess risk–return, liquidity and safety before investing.
  • Insist on written terms and conditions; read fee and plan details carefully.
  • Be vigilant; approach appropriate authorities for doubts/grievances.
  • Inform SEBI about IAs offering assured or guaranteed returns.
  • Be aware of your rights to exit, seek clarifications, provide feedback, and not be bound by clauses that contravene regulations.

Don’ts

  • Don’t fall for stock tips offered under the pretext of investment advice.
  • Do not provide funds for investment to the Investment Adviser.
  • Don’t fall for promise of indicative, exorbitant or assured returns.
  • Don’t fall prey to luring advertisements or market rumours.
  • Avoid transactions only on the basis of phone calls or messages.
  • Don’t take decisions just because of repeated messages and calls.
  • Do not fall prey to limited-period discounts, gifts or other incentives.
  • Don’t rush into investments that do not match your risk appetite and goals.
  • Do not share login credentials or passwords of trading, demat or bank accounts with the Investment Adviser.
